Strawberry Love
June 6, 2007
Did you know that a half cup of fresh strawberries has only 5.5 carbohydrates? That’s one of the many reasons I’ve been on a bit of a strawberry binge lately. I eat them at breakfast with cottage cheese, a bit of vanilla whey, and toasted pecans. My favorite afternoon snack is strawberries on top of sesame thin crackers with a slice of mozarella cheese. What is your favorite low-carb strawberry recipe?

The whey powder I’m using now is from Whole Foods, but I’ve seen other similar low-carb varieties at my normal local grocery store in the protein shake/meal replacement section.
It has about 3 carbs per scoop and is great for giving otherwise bland things a little flavor (i.e. oatmeal, cottage cheese) and of course for shakes. Once I made a REALLY delicious whey shake, quaffed the entire thing, then immediately realized I’d accidentally grabbed half-and-half instead of milk! haha…
